Synopsis For Puerto Rico And The U
Virgin Islands waters... based on latest information from the National Hurricane Center...at 500 am AST...newly formed Tropical Depression Eight was located near latitude 19.8 north...longitude 57.9 west or a about 355 miles east northeast of the northern Leeward Islands...moving west northwest near 4 knots. Meanwhile...Tropical Storm Gustav was located near latitude 17.8 north...longitude 75.6 west or about 80 miles east of Kingston Jamaica...moving southwest near 7 knots. These two systems will create a weather pattern that will maintain a light and variable wind flow across the regional waters through Friday. An upper level trough just north of Puerto Rico extends southwest across Hispaniola...and will act to enhance thunderstorm activity across the area waters through at least Friday.
